"Class: Faculty and Student Invitational" at the STUTZARTSPACE

Students and faculty from Stutz Art Space displayed their work at the Stutz Art Space gallery in an exhibition titled "Class: Faculty/Student Show" which opened May 1, 2009. Course instructors include Janet Chilton, Jane Knight, Diane Lyon, Susan Mauck, Jerry Points, John Reynolds and Ginny Taylor Rosner.

This was the first faculty/student show at the Stutz.

"We're pleased with the response from local artists wanting to study with our talented artists," said Kate Oberreich, director of education for Stutz Art Space.

Stutz Art Space is a nonprofit visual art center featuring a gallery and workshop, opened in January 2008. Its mission is to connect artists, audiences and resources. Summer classes begin in May and include oil painting, plein air painting, lighting for photography portraits and more.

New this session are week-long summer workshops for teens and a 3-day workshop where students will explore downtown with a sketchbook and produce a final artwork that's a response to their surroundings. Class dates and prices vary. For more information and a schedule of classes click here.

An opening reception for the Invitational was held 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on May 1, in conjunction with the Indianapolis Downtown Artists & Dealers Association's (IDADA) monthly First Friday gallery tour. The show continued through May 29, and the STUTZARTSPACE gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays or by appointment.
