Biography
Diane Lyon of is a nationally recognized artist, is an impressionistic oil painter. Her business is Diane Lyon Fine Art. Born in Denver, Colorado, she has lived in many places around the world, including in California, Canada, Germany, Italy, and Thailand. She has lived for many years in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she and husband, Karl, raised four children. She has recently moved to Jackson, Wyoming.
Lyon received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Notre Dame in California, a Bachelor of Education and a Masters in Dramatic Arts from the University of Toronto. She has studied painting with many of today’s master painters and looks to many past masters for inspiration.
Lyon is a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society and an Associate Member of Oil Painters of America, Hoosier Salon, Indiana Heritage Arts, Indiana Artists Club, and Indiana Plein Air Painters Association, and the Teton Plein Air Painters.
She has received numerous awards, including the Best Oil Painting at the 92nd Annual Hoosier Salon Exhibition and the Dickinson Signature Member Award for the American Impressionist Society's 15th Annual National Exhibition. In 2015 her painting "Peonies" was selected for inclusion in the permanent collection of the Indiana Heritage Arts as well as being awarded the Bronze Medal.
Her work has been featured in various publications, including the article, Highlighting Women Artists, in the October, 2014 issue of Fine Art Connoisseur. Lyon’s paintings hang in many corporate and private collections around the world.
